Liverpool City Council is inviting businesses across the city to a free breakfast briefing on work-related road risk management on Wednesday 28 October. The event, held in partnership with Driving for Better Business, runs from 8am to 11.30am at the Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre.
The briefing is designed to help employers understand their legal responsibilities when staff drive for work. This includes travel to meetings, visits to customers, deliveries and site work using company vehicles or personal cars.
Why this matters
Around a third of road traffic collisions involve someone driving for work, making effective management of work-related road risk important for organisations of all sizes.
What the briefing covers
The event will feature specialist panels across five key areas: employer legal responsibilities, driver impairment including drink, drugs and medication, driver health and wellbeing, driver behaviour, and vehicle safety.
Sessions will also address business responsibilities around policies, record keeping, monitoring and management reporting.
Attendees will receive a resource pack and access to post-event downloads containing presentation materials, tools and guidance to help organisations identify and address gaps in their approach to road risk management.
Additional support on the day
Representatives from Liverpool City Council's Business Support Service will be available to discuss support for local company growth and development. A member of Liverpool in Work, the Council's employment and skills team, will also be present to discuss free recruitment support.
How to attend
Places are limited and advance booking is required.
Councillor Dan Barrington, Liverpool City Council Cabinet Member for Transport and Connectivity, said: "Businesses have an important role to play in keeping our roads safe. This free briefing is an opportunity for employers to hear from experts, gain practical advice and access resources that can help them manage road risk more effectively."
