A Neapolitan performer who sees a connection between her home city and Liverpool is bringing her solo show to Liverpool Fringe this month.

Antonella Fittipaldi will perform SCALENO: One Body, Three Voices at The Studio Beyond, 63 Wood Street, from Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 October 2026. Each performance starts at 6pm and lasts around 50 minutes.

The production uses Italian, Neapolitan and English, with English surtitles. Fittipaldi plays three characters: a 41-year-old woman struggling to live in the present, her Neapolitan alter ego and a British AI smart speaker.

Why Liverpool matters to the show

In her release, Fittipaldi said Liverpool was a deliberate choice for the production's UK journey. She described a familiarity with Scouse humour, physicality and the way local identity is expressed through language.

She has resisted performing the entire piece in English because the Neapolitan voice is central to the character. If she created an English-language version, she said, that character would be Scouse.

The show moves between dark comedy, autobiography and psychological drama, exploring memory, desire, shame and queer identity. Although an artificial intelligence appears as a character, Fittipaldi wrote all of its dialogue herself.

Fittipaldi founded La Nuda Compagnia in 2008. The company and performer made their UK debut with SCALENO at Camden Fringe earlier in 2026.
